They just assume because I have over 300 connections, that I'm open to connecting with ANYONE! Well, I've started to cull my linkedin connections, believe it or not. There are so many connection spammers out there now.

And I agree that we need pictures. If you don't have a picture, it's 10x harder to connect with people as a person instead of a conglomeration of facts.

Thanks Paul, for the tips in this informative post!

Peace,

MazarineMazarinehttp://wildwomanfundraising.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-683997355382813239.post-80458107237810448402012-09-11T10:07:30.398-07:002012-09-11T10:07:30.398-07:00Hi Paul,
You are my go-to resource person in tea...Hi Paul,

You are my go-to resource person in teaching others on how to get started, so this blog post will be printed and slipped into my networking folder to hand out at meetings anytime someone asks me how to get started.

I disagree, however, with one small point: "You don't need a photo right away"

- I'd say that you do. Being able to recognize a face when the information on the profile is limited goes a long, long way. It helps me remember you from a conference or an event with a few people present. A real-world example is a request from someone I knew and was interested in connecting with - but she had changed last names to a married name - without a photo or a 100% complete profile, it was really hard to identify her from her invite.

What I do 100% agree on is how annoying it is to receive standard invites. LinkedIn is not an online rolodex or business card sorter - make an effort, tell me why I should accept or how you know me!

Thanks for this one,

Christina on twitter @GPtekkieChristina Attardhttp://www.christinaattard.com/blog.htmlnoreply@blogger.com
